Claude T. Sullivan Back

The President of the United States takes great pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant Claude T. Sullivan for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a C-130B Pilot at Khe Sanh, Republic of Vietnam on 14 March 1971. On that date, Lieutenant Sullivan was assigned a combat essential mission to deliver urgently needed helicopter fuel to Khe Sanh. Although hampered by marginal weather, hazardous terrain, and the constant threat of hostile ground fire, Lieutenant Sullivan successfully completed four sorties into the short assault strip. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Sullivan reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
