Everybody know about the TR Inn now housing the migrant workers? We had issues at the Comfort Motel, now demolished on the north side of town. Piles of beer bottles, trash, a mess for the businesses across the street and as you entered town. NOW, same owner( I believe) now housing the migrant workers at the TR Inn. Nice for TR, especially the hospital, Home Depot, Meijer's parking lots and all the wonderful sucurity we already have in this town. The fire and safety are approving it for living. Are there any city ordinances that make this an issue? Glad I don't live on that side of town or let my kids walk anywhere on that side. The north entrance to the city was destroyed by this debacle. No supervision and there are different ethnic standards that our neighborhoods live up to. I'd say somebody might want to ba asking some questions at the next city commission meeting, coming soon. I hear it may be our last blessing from our city manager, Joe Bippus.

I just noticed that the other day as I was leaving HD. There where clothes hanging out of one of the windows. Boy if that just doesn't scream class I don't know what does. Of course they try to hide the buses out back to make it look, well, abandoned still I guess.

The property is owned or at least the taxes are paid by
CROYDON INNS LLC 5429 FOUR SEASONS DR KALAMAZOO MI 49009
In Kalamazoo Croydon Inns LLc is listed as a bed and breakfast. However the address is to a very nice vacant lot. Google it and see for yourself.
Is this all it takes to run a business or flop house out of TR? |

Glad to see someone else noticed this. I talked with code enforcement earlier this week. Last I knew they owed a huge water bill to the city and back taxes. The last building inspector had shut down the remodel due to no permits and unlicensed people doing the work. He also would not allow opening until all work was done or seperated from finished areas. Did they pay the water bill? Or did someone allow them to run up more, or did they tap into the line, or are they living without running water? No building inspection? No certificate of occupancy? Where is the new building inspector before this turns into the next Comfort Motel. Closed for 5 years come November. What shape is it in?

C'mon tabletop - you know you mustn't bad mouth the immigrants, they're on a free ticket from Obama to do what the heck they want in our country and ignore any law they want to!

My complaint is not with the workers. It is the illegal use of the motel by the owner. Rules and laws are in place for a reason. This owner cannot just ignore them while others are compliant.

Had migrants as neighbors one year. Was not a good summer. They have a man who makes sure they get to and from work, groceries, pays there bills, if anything happens at work he is called in to translate and settle the problem. He is like there parent. In return he receives a large chunk of there pay check. I would rather see them there then spread throughout the city.

If you or I were working in a foreign country with foreign language and bureaucracies, I would welcome a "parent" figure to make sure I was complying with rules/regulations.
Know of someone whose son is working the corn now. She said there are more kids wanting that kind of work. It's brutal, but it's better than nothing. Perhaps our migrant problem will decline once Americans stop viewing physical labor as beneath them.
Perhaps once more people in-country are willing to take those jobs, fewer migrants will come over for them. |

That is the problem. Following the rules and laws. They migrant workers, not all but most, seem to think that they are above the rules. I have seen this in stores and on the streets. They show a lack of respect for everyone. Yes they do take the jobs that we don't really want. That's fine but not at the cost of letting them be above the law or allowing their general actions to be detrimental to the surrounding people.

I would suggest attendance at the city commission meeting tonight, Tuesday, for questions and perhaps some answers, you will probably have to be a part of the public forum section.

New problem- south side of town, ethnic diverse individuals approaching our teens getting off the detasseling buses(teenagers, females) speaking another language, waving money in their faces. Do they want our teenage girls to buy them something they cannot find in the Large store with the gas station, on the south side of town, right across the highway from their rented residences. Can they not say cigarettes, smokes, booze, schnopps, gin, tampons, kotex, or are they soliciting our children for some other type of service?? The girls didn't speak the language so they called their parents and filed a police report. "Oh, maybe they wanted them to buy sudafed or alcohol,,,oh yes, I'm sure that was it!" I certainly hope everyone in the motels anymore, have their own Mr Coffee makers, since they have been taken from all other motels because ofrisk of cooking meth on them. Just another day in Three Rivers.

Since the new owner of the one former motel in question tossed a little laundered money at past due bills the city and county seem to be happy for the cash and looking the other way at the main problem. This will end up like the Comfort Motel was on North Main. It may take a little longer because it is brick instead of cardboard. How do we get an ICE team to do a raid? If they could spare a team from Sturgis we could (As Barney Fife used to say) "Nip it in the bud".
