A Senate panel heard testimony Tuesday (June 8th) on Sen. Cameron Brown's legislation to eliminate the Driver Responsibility Fee for minor offenses and create an amnesty program allowing Michigan motorists to pay their fees.

Liberty First. Everything else second.

This one looked lonely. From things I've seen the fees just push people to break the law. Punishments need to be deterrents to not following the rules, not reason's to break more rules. As with all laws of the land we should make sure that they are having the intended effect and then fix or eliminate them. I wonder if we could write into every law a "get it right" clause. After 1,3, or 5 years all laws are evaluated for there effectiveness or the unintended consequences of and then they get reaffirmed. Kind of a 30 day trial period instead of a you broke it you bought it approach.
