This Thursday there will be a FREE job fair at Glen Oaks Community College. The college does not charge employers to participate, and they do not charge job-seekers to attend. If you or someone you know is looking for employment....this might be a great place to start.

I moved this from the Mendon forum into the S.J. forum. Hope you don't mind.

Also if there is anyone out there who would like to get an introduction to a particular technology for career enhancement please contact me. I am putting together an introductory course for people to get familiar with technologies that will help them at their current jobs (or for future jobs). I am in the experimental phase so there would be no charge. I just need some "guinea pigs" with some common interest in technologies, like for instance, the Internet, Microsoft Office applications, ,Visual Basic, Crystal Reports, Database applications etc..

Its all free so that most you could lose is some time. And you could gain a lot of insight into a great many tools and technologies that could make you more valuable to an employer.

Buck-

I appreciate you moving it to a far more appropriate area. I will give some serious thought to your offer for technology information. :)

Buck-

As a Business and Communications faculty member at Glen Oaks- I am always curious about updated technology. I have a fairly solid grasp of basic technology- but like to keep on top of what my students find particularly engaging.

For students who are unemployed, or who have been out of work for many months, they often struggle with the overwhelming fear of learning some new computer program or faction.

I teach many courses online and have developed additional classes as well. Just a love of continuing education and learning.....

I am a technology geek that spends most of my time in development and productivity tools like the MS Office Suite, Visual Studio and Crystal Reports. My speciality is the automation of moving data between disparate systems. For instance the company I am working for used to receive invoices through email (in Excel format), which had to printed out and then entered into an accounting program manually. I just finished a program that can scan the emails as they come in, save the spreadsheets contained in them to a disk and then push the invoice data into the accounting program, which allows the accounting department to skip hours of data entry.

I absolutely love the "community" the exits around technology in the form of online forums, user groups, and the many special events that are put on by many of the vendors. Anyway the truth is that I would not have been able to do what I do without that "community" and I am always looking for ways to give back to that community, which is why I mentioned this in the first place.
