| Question? Why don't citizens demand a change ? I don't understand why more citizens don't complain about our constant water issues? Our positive tests seem to be more and more frequent. |

TR City Commission authorizes preparation of Capital Improvement Plan for drinking water system.
And
Three Rivers City Commission makes Clean Water Plant a priority.
Government is too big and too important to be left to the politicians. |

| They can't run the cemetery let alone the Clean Water Plant and they think they can take on the Fisher Lake Sewer Project. I commend Mr. Baker and Mayor Balog on demanding accountability. The DEQ doesn't issue violations without good reason. You watch, as soon ss they get Fisher Lake hooked up, then they will say that they need a new plant and not only will Fisher Lake residents be paying for an inadequate, cheap sewer system they will have to pay for a new treatment plant in TR. Wake up! Wake up! |

My computer has been down so I wasn't able to comment on the latest commission meeting. What a GREAT JOB by Mayor Balog and Commissioner Ken Baker. The city presented their case for Fisher Lake sewer project. By their presentation you would have believed everything was great. All the T's had been crossed and all the I's had been dotted. Every base was covered even with a plan to handle EVERY problem that may arise, passed and present. They said they learned from the problems with the Constantine project and didn't want to repeat them. Careful planning and consideration seemed to be the case( BUT THEN )Ken Baker dared to open the can of worms and the house of cards began to crumble.
Ken started with a report provided by the DEQ of ALL the violations, hundreds of them. By time Baker had finished reading portions of the letter the picture had changed. Then it was Mayor Balogs turn and the report continued, violation after violation was the story and the cities picture perfect presentation laid in shambles on the commission floor.
But the story wasn't over, next up was the citizens of Three Rivers turn to continue exposing the countless violations by the waste water plant. One citizen even had a CD and pictures she handed out to the Commissioners exposing raw sewage floating down the river. One after another proceeded to the mic. to share their stories of terrible smells to open flows of sewage!!
And to finish the task and put a HUGE exclamation point on the night, Commissioner Baker told Mr. Bippus and Jim Rozeboom the Waste Water Plant was disgusting and an embarrassment to the city of Three Rivers!!!
Now to add a little info. to the story, in 2001 Seven Million dollars were spent to repair and upgrade our plant.
So what lesson should we learn from this discouraging story? In my opinion it would be, don't believe the rederick, don't believe the picture being painted by our City Manager and His boys. I believe this story is only one of many. I believe this is an example of the way this management operates, it's their MO.
Does the Welton project refresh your memory ??
It's time for Jim Rozeboom to go back in retirement !! It's also time to send the (employee called city manager) down the road !!
We need transparency at city hall ! We need OUR employees to have the freedom to tell what's really happening on the job site without the threat of losing their jobs.
We need a new direction for our city and Mayor Balog has done a great job beginning the change!!
I never meant this post to be an endorsement for Wendy Shank and George Ramsey BUT if we really want our government heald accountable, if we really want to support OUR Mayor , these are the two who will get it done.
We are at the door of real change and progress in Three Rivers but now it's up to you! You will decide if we continue down the same road of governing behind closed doors or accountability at City Hall. |

Just what we need another pipeline fiasco! We can't even handle the drinking water what makes them think a few more turds would make things any worse? Imagine what will happen to our water and sewer bill. Just like the last time, I do not think Constantine and TR residents are going to pay higher sewer and water bills when things go take a crap again.
I am glad that the Mayor and Baker took Bippuss and Jim's paddle while the two of them were canoeing up that famous creek.

If the majority of the people do not want chlorination then we make sure that it keeps coming in bad so that the DEQ will force the city. In other words the DEQ will be the bad guys so Bippuss comes out smelling like roses.

Yes BUT the problem IS VIOLATIONS, HUNDERDS of them !! And no matter how many times Mr. Bippus and Mr. Rozeboom try and present their case, the FACTS keep getting in their way. Even Mayor Balog and Ken Baker had pictures of the manhole cover off while sewage was running in our river.
DEQ has NO issue with Three Rivers! DEQ has issue with VIOLATIONS ! Daryl Griffith sets there seemingly so concerned about DEQ forcing chlorination, while knowing very well the constant issues. Maybe they should have dealt with them BEFORE we arrived at this point!!!
DEQ is NOT the problem here. The problem is management and management who allow this !!! Did I mention management ? They have put more effort into hiding the problem and trying to silence city employees than dealing with it !
But of course and as always this is only my opinion ! |

| Well said Blaine. This again illustrates that people do not pay enough attention to what the people they elect are doing. They ONLY notice when their action actually affect them. Officials are far more likely to do a better job if they know the electorate is watching their EVERY move, not just the ones that might affect them. |

Blaine DEQ is not the problem it is like you said, Bippuss and his underlings. Chlorine is not going to solve incompetence, chlorine is not going to solve neglect issues of our water system, but chlorine will be the band aid for it.
Chlorine will be the way for Bippuss not to spend money on the real problems of neglect and incompetence. But like I said, the DEQ will be Bippuss and his underlings excuse. The DEQ forced our hand that is what Bippy will say.
